This week’s Regional Investment Summit brought great news for our region – the West Midlands has secured an extra £20 million to back innovation in science, technology and clean energy.  

This funding will help power new opportunities for businesses and workers here in Selly Oak, where our growing tech and manufacturing sectors are already shaping the future of the local economy.  

The investment comes through the Local Innovation Partnerships Fund, bringing total support for the region to £50 million. It’s designed to create skilled jobs and unlock local potential – from life sciences and clean fuels to digital manufacturing.  

As someone who sees the creativity and ambition of people in Selly Oak every day, I know this extra support will help ensure our community continues to be part of the UK’s innovation story – driving good jobs, green growth and regional pride.
