Every child deserves the best start – and this week the Government took a big step to make that happen.  

Through the new Best Start in Life campaign, we’re reviving Sure Start-style family services and rolling out Best Start Family Hubs across the country. These one-stop centres will give parents easier access to childcare, health, nutrition and early-learning support – all under one roof.  

Here in Selly Oak, that means more support for parents juggling work and family life, better help for children with SEND, and new opportunities to get advice close to home.  

This sits alongside other measures helping local families: 30 hours of government-funded childcare, free breakfast clubs, and expanded school-based nurseries.  

I’m proud that we’re rebuilding the services families rely on and investing in children’s futures – so that every child in Selly Oak can thrive, whatever their background.
